Is it too early to potty train?

Lily seems to be noticing when she does her business lately, and she has a growing interest in the potty. I tried out our potty seat, its the kind that fits right over your normal seat. She did this 5x's today! Don't start cheering yet, nothing ever happened. We sang a few songs and ate M&M's (which she lovingly calls "reats"-treats). Each time got progressively shorter but she was still willing to sit. I even tried running the faucet to help give her watery thoughts. I'll keep trying!

Be sure to take the survey to the right.

Lily has a staph infection

My poor baby has a very yucky staph infection on her bum. A few days ago I was bathing her after the beach. I noticed a red lump on her bum at the top of the crack, assuming she got a strange bug bite down her swimsuit. My niece also complained about a bug bite on her bum that day. We have some frisky bugs! Over the next few days it didn't change. Last night she woke at 4am with a dirty diaper. I changed her in the dark and when I wiped she screamed. I was concerned. She went back to sleep with no problem. My mind wondered on possibilities for a while. I crept into her room with a flash light and looked at it and it was twice as large as before, fiery red and hot. I decided then I was taking her to the doctor. It looked just like my staph infection while in Taiwan. Some of you may remember David and I both had staph infections within one week of each other while in Taiwan. Mine was unfortunately also on my bum. I know how painful this is and I feel so sad for my baby.

So we went to her pediatrician and my assumptions were correct. And by the time we arrived there it had come to a white head. Dr. B wasted no time in draining the wound. Lily screamed. Together we cried while they squeezed all the yucky out. Finally they finished and she could rest in my arms. And worst of all I had forgotten her binky at home. She didn't have her 2nd favorite thing to suck on. She had trouble sitting in her car seat after that but she's doing alright.

Lily is on oral antibiotics and I have to bath her in a warm tubby 4x's a day to soothe it. If it gets worse, she'll have to be drained.... again. They're also doing tests on a sample to make sure her medicine will work.

We're counting our blessings,
-Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ loves us!
-The Holy Ghost told me last night what I needed to do.
-She does not have a fever. If a fever were present she would have been sent to the hospital for intravenous antibiotics.
-She is happy and cheerful. She'll be alright.

100th Ocean City Baby Parade

Lily and I were in the Baby Parade today and it was so great! We were Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. Lily was mesmerized by all the people waving and clapping at us while we walked the boardwalk. By the end though she was exhausted and wanted out so I had to carry her the last few blocks. People seemed to really enjoy our costumes. Last year we were "Lil' Bo Peep". Wonder what we'll be next year!

waiting for the parade to begin

Our cheering section! Grammy, Pop, David, Andy, Heather, Sydney and Jackson.
We sat with them to watch the rest of the parade.

Stroller Blading

My new favorite way to take a walk, Stroller Blading. I push Lilia in the stroller while I roller blade behind. I recently was given roller blades from my sister's neighbor who never used them. Hooray for me and Lily! Great exercise for me, fast ride for Lily and its also a whole lot of fun! Mommies and Daddies, try it! Plus everyone I pass comments positively about it.

Seriously, did I tell you how much fun stroller blading is? I'm trying to convince Lily to go now.
